A LESSON FROM MY NIECE

Hey reader, welcome back to the blog.

It's storytime!!!

Let's begin with a conversation I had with my two-year-old niece last week;

Me: Baby girl, put off your shoes.

Baby Girl: These are not shoes. They are sandals.

With so much bewilderment, I stood still and stared for seconds before bursting into laughter. 'This kid won't disgrace me', I thought. Is she too young to correct? Wait! I bet you don't even know she was WRONG.

Huh! I'm from a place where all seasonings are called 'maggi' and toothpastes are referred to as 'maclean', I guess my dear niece does not want to join those who describe the integral as a specific subset(I'm not a mathematician, Lol), but along the shore, she mixed it up.

The shoe is the common Crocs (see picture below)

 I'm sure she had thought that shoes are specifically what covers the entire foot while sandals are partly opened at the ankle. But in the real sense, sandals are a type of shoes. She was WRONG but I appreciate her discernment at such a tender age.

Why the story?

I could have titled the article, 'seeking for knowledge' but because it goes beyond just being eager to have the knowledge but also, ensuring that the RIGHT knowledge is gained and passed unto the next generation.

SEEKING THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE.

Many a time, we're prone to making assumptions about certain things without verification. We walk in mediocrity because of our uninquisitiveness. Not accepting mediocrity makes you different. Tour the world in search of knowledge, do NOT be complacent. Complacency would cause one to get comfortable with mediocrity. Refuse mediocre decision making from yourself. Strive for more in life. You can do this by walking up to advisers, mentors and role models who broke our of the social mold and became legends. STRIVE to KNOW.

IMPARTING THE RIGHT KNOWLEDGE.

One should not be selfish with knowledge. Knowledge is not to be hoard. Well, maybe not just any knowledge, but the RIGHT one. Right in the unfiltered, unadulterated version. Do not just impart knowledge, but the impartation should be done appropriately.

A key mistake humans make in the verge of teaching is not putting into consideration the power of the words(i.e.how far and fast words can make and mar). Remember knowledge is like a food chain, it gets transferred from your students to their students and the cycle goes on and on. Do not EVER be the pioneer of a blooper.

Today, I cease to pass the wrong knowledge. How about you?
