Hi dynamite, welcome back!

To everyone who responded to the last survey, merci!

Thank you.💟

Yesterday made it exactly seven (7) months since the exasperating ASUU strike struck the hearts of so many Nigerian students in all federal owned Universities, and some state owned Universities. However, while some affected students have been tied up with and are thriving in several expertise, others are still scratching their heads- their brains are already red, and their minds are distraught. Most students that fall in the latter category are at a point of distress, and feel intimidated by those in the former category.

Dear reader, if you fall in the latter category, then this is for you.

I understand how disturbing it is to not feel good enough. And how upset one's mind could get when others are flourishing, while one's life seems stagnant- or maybe revolving around a cycle. I understand how intimidating it is to be the odd one out of the league of the successful- especially if you are a LinkedIn user. I have been there before, hence my reason for coming up with these FIVE TIPS TO HELP YOU GET RID OF "ASUU-INSPIRED" PRESSURE.

Before you read, bear in mind that I do not have it all sorted also, but these tips have kept me going. I'm sharing because I found them helpful.

Thank you!

#1 DON'T HATE

There is always a tendency to develop a feeling of resentment towards people who are most successful than us; many a time, certain pure acts by them seem like a personal exhibitionism, or simply, show off;  we make several assumptions about them, and breed hatred in our hearts against them.

Dear reader, a pithy belief I strongly hold on to is "hating people will never deter their success, it will only birth within you unrest, misery". Ergo, my steer to you to convert the mental energy expelled from hatred into engaging in productive activities.

#2 BEWARE OF NEGATIVE SOCIAL COMPARISON

Comparisons are a normal part of human cognition, and can be good for self-improvement. Positive upward social comparison can help you become more aware, help you set realistic goals, and reset your compass. However, if you're molded in a way that makes you feel bad and dissatisfied about yourself when you compare yourself to people who have achieved more than you have, then I would advise that you STOP THE COMPARISON, and FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTHS- each human is an embodiment of unique abilities, all you need do is look more inwardly to detect yours.

#3 BE INSPIRED, NOT INTIMIDATED

One of the survey respondents stated, "I don't feel intimidated reading people's success stories, I just see it as a challenge to attain such heights", the respondent clearly sees success stories as a stepping rock to becoming a better version of themselves. Another respondent mentioned, " when you see someone doing better than you, it is your choice to either remain seated and snivelling, or to get up and MAKE MOVES". Dear reader, the choice of which I would encourage you to opt for is to MAKE MOVES.

Do not be weighed down by the success of others, otherwise you might end up doing nothing but eating yourself up.

#4 SEEK HELP

Seeking help ensures that you can build a supportive community that understands what you are going through. Talking to someone while going through challenging situations like this helps to navigate through it with a greater degree of awareness.

The strike has, of course, taken its toll on you and your mental health, however since struggling alone is not the answer to getting through tough times, why then are you delaying your therapy? Click here to get  professional mental health consultancy.

#5 START NOW

If you haven't had your hands laid on anything in the last seven months, here is a good news for you- you can START NOW. And in order to be able to start now, you have to kill the demon of Analysis Paralysis- overanalyzing and the urge to start from the top. If you want to reach the top, you have to start with the resources within your reach and then grow, this is quite better than starting from the top and crashing.

In a nutshell, dear reader, START NOW!
