GIFT OF THE HEART

Image
On the 14th of February, my timeline was red; not bloody, but dripping with red emoticons and red boxes with cosy gifts. How sweet love is!  As I jumped from WhatsApp to Instagram, I grinned with excitement, the sight of love is so heart-warming! How much warmth will the actual feeling of love give? Dynamite, you will agree with me that everyone deserves to be loved, right? yeah, yeah, I received your positive response. What will be your reaction if everyday is declared Valentine's Day? Aww! sweet, but that might incur big-ticket expenses, right? Well, maybe not. What if I tell you we can share love without spending a dime?    As much as people hold dearly in their hearts the flowers and gifts, so also do the smile, care, warm hugs, beautiful words, encouraging messages, acts of service, and support linger in their memories. So dear, you do not have to run into debt to show someone you truly care. Of course, there are times financial aid is all a person needs, but ...

TO BE A GIRL AGAIN

Image
Welcome back! I did miss you. 🥺❤️ This is a #featuredpost and our distinguished guest, Ore-Ofe Oguntola (Cowry god), would be taking us through the rollercoasters of her life. Enjoy! TO BE A GIRL AGAIN- ORE OFE OGUNTOLA (COWRY GOD) I used to explain many things before, these days, I find myself having both deep and surface knowledge of everything yet I find it difficult to explain myself, and when asked, I tell people it is personal. I am gradually losing emotional attachment towards everyone and everything, it feels like I have gotten myself to the middle of a sea and I can't go back, I either swim or die. The feeling is mixed, I have joy that I have achieved all I wanted to achieve five years ago, and my new aims and objectives seem tough but I know they are achievable, yet a feeling of in-depth pain and loneliness accompanies me because I am still twelve years old. He was my best friend, I was 12 when he died, and till today, all I have sought in every of my relationship is t...

A LESSON FROM MY NIECE

Image
Hey reader, welcome back to the blog. It's storytime!!! Let's begin with a conversation I had with my two-year-old niece last week; Me: Baby girl, put off your shoes. Baby Girl: These are not shoes. They are sandals. With so much bewilderment, I stood still and stared for seconds before bursting into laughter. 'This kid won't disgrace me', I thought. Is she too young to correct? Wait! I bet you don't even know she was WRONG. Huh! I'm from a place where all seasonings are called 'maggi' and toothpastes are referred to as 'maclean', I guess my dear niece does not want to join those who describe the integral as a specific subset(I'm not a mathematician, Lol), but along the shore, she mixed it up. The shoe is the common Crocs (see picture below)  I'm sure she had thought that shoes are specifically what covers the entire foot while sandals are partly opened at the ankle. But in the real sense, sandals are a type of shoes. She was WRONG ...

ECHT

Everyone has their way of defining what's best. Just like Ella was praised and highly commended few months ago for being ever confident, she was blamed today for being outrageous. She was drowning in thoughts, confused of what path to take until I saved her. Among what I told her were: °LEARN MORE ABOUT YOURSELF: It's easier to be another's mirror than oneself. Telling what personality you posses could be uneasy but it's the best way to being yourself. One who does not have an idea of what he is could fall into any pith at any time. So, the first thing to take note of is discovering what man you are! °APPRECIATE YOURSELF!:  No matter how bad you see yourself as, some other person wishes to be like you. Do not deprive yourself of the love you deserve. Love and appreciate what person you are made of. °BE CONFIDENT!:  Being able to tell the world who you really are is a battle many warriors could not fight. So, fight that battle to win that you may be the greatest warrio...

YOU MATTER

In the past few months, I had several opportunities to write and handsomely paid, it is a huge one to grab, right? Yeah, it is but your baby girl accepted few and humbly rejected many. Surprising????  One of the most important things to me is making good grades, so it is quite unfortunate that those opportunities came while I was preparing for and writing my second semester examination. Indubitably, accepting all the proposals would affect my academics; these are formal write-ups that require utmost scrutiny and dedication but since I was stuck reading for my examination, they are better off humbly rejected than badly cooked as this might ruin the reputation of my job. While multitasking can be efficacious in certain circumstances, it is almost impossible to multitask in some others. Accepting the proposals would require certain level of commitment and this, coupled with exam stress might affect my health status, yes! I placed myself, my health before money and right now, I ...
